Happy Earth Day 2021!
Happy Earth Day! Today is the day that we celebrate our beautiful Earth while bringing awareness to the most urgent environmental concerns that the natural world faces. On April 22nd, 1970, 20 million Americans across the country came together to participate in lectures, rallies, and teach-ins to speak up about the rising environmental concerns. Soon after this day, the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and Endangered Species Act were passed along with many other changes made to how we approach sustainability. 51 years later and Earth Day has become a global celebration that over 190 countries participate in to highlight environmental issues that are plaguing our planet.
Mother Nature is suffering from biodiversity loss, pollution, deforestation, climate change, and much more. Unfortunately, the decline is due to the negligence of humans towards the planet. Earth Day addresses these environmental concerns and creates a sense of urgency to take action. There are many ways to celebrate Earth Day today and every day. Doing your part is easy by:
Switching your bills to e-bills to eliminate the wastage of paper.
Going on a hike or a walk by the beach and picking up litter along the way
Carpooling, walking, or biking on your way to work to reduce CO2 emissions.
Bringing a reusable bag when you go shopping.
Using a refillable water bottle.
Purchasing more Eco-friendly products.
Volunteering for a local environmental group.
Promoting environmentalism is possible through collaboration and community, education, and making more eco-friendly lifestyle changes for our environment. We all have a right to a healthy and sustainable Earth so we must take action to restore our planet for ourselves and the generations to come.
